This was an art commission rooted in deep emotional feelings- an artwork to represent Sakshi’s mom memory and her limitless love on a 2 dimensional space. She made it slightly easier by sending the photo of the place where she had strewn the ashes of ma, a picture of her favourite gulmohar tree. What emerged on paper was pure flow of ink with water, minimal control of the colors, leaving a strong structural framework of the central tree. Finally finished the artwork with intricate details of the leaves and grass. The name of the painting is “mother‘s blessing” (mayer ashirbad) .This painting portrays the abundance of her Mom’s love through the riches and freshness of the colors. Its branches leaning over the young tree speaks of the overflowing blessing of her mother. The tree, strong and feminine represents the many stages of a life well lived. The roots, trunk and the branches rise up high, in praise of divine blessings and grace. The echo of her last words, (mai thik hoon) reverberate in every blade of grass, every leaf and every flower represented.
